Meet Lindsey Maharaj, our May Member of the Month.
Why did you join WISE?
I joined WISE because I was looking for a community that embraces the vast and evolving nature of the sales world. Whether you're in sales development, account management, customer success, or enablement, we’re all united by the goal of creating meaningful customer relationships. What I love about WISE is that it brings together women from all corners of this space, across industries and career stages, to share real stories, hard-won insights, and practical advice, and everyone I’ve met has been driven by empathy as much as ambition.
What are you looking forward to this summer?
This summer, I’m thrilled to be stepping into a brand-new role as a first-time parent! It’s a huge transition, and I’m feeling all the excitement, anticipation, and perspective that comes with it. I’ve already started to see how true it is that “it takes a village,” and I feel incredibly grateful to be surrounded by such a strong support system, both personally and professionally, as we prepare for this next chapter. This summer will be a season of finding balance and embracing change, and I’m looking forward to showing up with intention to meet every new challenge and milestone.
What is the most helpful piece of career advice you've ever received?
One piece of advice that’s stuck with me is to trust your instincts over a rigid career playbook. Some of the most meaningful steps in my journey have come from following curiosity and leaning into opportunities across functions that offered new challenges, perspectives, or ways to grow. By taking on roles in different capacities, industries, and stages – from startup to scale – I’ve built a broader, more flexible perspective that’s shaped both my leadership and problem-solving approach. Along the way, I’ve been lucky enough to learn from role models across diverse areas of expertise, each offering insights that challenged and inspired me.
As a result, I've learned to own the value of my transferable skills, even when my career hasn’t followed a traditional path. When building or leading teams, I also look for that same spark in others: people whose unique mix of experiences brings fresh thinking, adaptability, and insight to a role. A person’s titles or degrees can only tell you so much; for example, I never knew how heavily my English degree would impact a career in sales, and I now realize I’d been in a customer success role long before I’d ever held the title of CSM. Many of the job titles we now work with didn’t even exist five years ago. The ability to evolve with the work and recognize your worth, even when the path looks different, has been one of the most powerful lessons in my career.
